PROJECTS / RESEARCH

Master thesis: HDAC-inhibition dependent synaptic remodeling and experience-altered learning and memory in Fmn2-knockout mice - a model for Posttraumatic stress disorder

Current PhD project: "The impact of the neuronal nucleus' architecture on memory formation."

SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

My major interest lays in the implication of varying epigenetic modifications during aging and neurodegeneration on memory formation and retrieval. For my PhD-study I aim for clarifying the relevance of the nuclear architecture for a proper gene transcription and thus a healthy memory formation. Thus I study aging mice and mouse models for Alzheimer's disease for the spatial organization of distinct nuclear bodies and possible correlations to cognition performance.
