Current title of PhD project: "Assessment of higher brain functions in mice within the framework of establishing genetic-environmental models of schizophrenia and of the receptiveness of these functions to neuroprotective/neuroregenerative strategies." Impairment of executive functions and attention are among the most severe and devastating cognitive symptoms in many neuropsychiatric diseases like schizophrenia, autism and affective disorders. The My research focuses on: (1) Modifying and improving existing experimental methods for the assessment of higher brain functions in mice; (2) Developing new methods for addressing core aspects of attention in mice, and (3) Exploiting potential neuroprotective/neuroregenerative approaches for improving cognitive deficits in rodent models of neuropsychiatric disorders. |
